Getting Broadband to our customers

We’ve entered into agreements with both Virgin Media and Community Fibre to offer residents a wider choice of broadband provider and Superfast/Ultrafast broadband.

Community Fibre offer a variety of packages, including Ultrafast broadband (up to 1GB/s), with Virgin now offering ever increasing speeds.

Research has shown that the way we consume TV and Broadband has changed with  63% of all adults saying they use BBC iPlayer and amongst teens, 66% using YouTube to watch TV and films. Along with the growth in online gaming, there is a definite need for more speed.

The average UK broadband speed is 18.57Mbps which means it takes around 43 seconds to download a TV show, seven minutes for a film or nearly three hours for a game. The benefits of the higher speeds offered by Ultrafast broadband means TV shows can be downloaded in 0.3 of a second, a film in 3 seconds and a game in 1 minute and 20 seconds.

Over the coming weeks and months we will be starting to survey our buildings with Community Fibre to plan installation and continuing to work with Virgin on sites that are not already served.
