National Storytelling Week

Storytelling is an ancient form of passing on knowledge for survival, education and recreational purposes, which is why the Society for Storytelling (SFS) organise and promote National Storytelling Week every year. This year it runs from 29 January to 5 February.

National Storytelling Week celebrates all things storytelling, including folk tales, fairy lore, phantoms, serpents, storms, dragons, and anything that can transform from a figment of someone’s imagination into a vivid and exciting auditory and sometimes, sensory experience.

To celebrate storytelling week, we have looked at free resources online you can print and do with your children.

Twinkl and National Literacy Trust shared some great free resources on their website, which you can see here:

You can also encourage your children to story tell by visiting your local library and renting different books, as most libraries have great choices in children’s books. Find your nearest library here.
