Good news for the Camden partnership providing services for children

We’re really pleased to find out that Camden Safeguarding Children’s Board has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills.

The latest Ofsted report shows that the London Borough of Camden has a mix of ‘outstanding’ and ‘good’ ratings for the range of services provided for children and young people in the borough.

As a partner organisation, we couldn’t be happier that we’ve contributed to the achievement of this excellent rating via the housing and support services we provide to young people in Camden.

Our housing on Gough and Doughty Street is part of London Borough of Camden’s pathway for Looked after Children. We support care leavers, Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASCs) and homeless 16 and 17 year olds.

We provide supported housing for fifty-five 16-26 year olds, but at Gough and Doughty Street we care about more than just providing a place to live. Here, residents are welcomed into a supportive community and are invited to take part in a mentoring programme called Settle which helps to prevent repeat homelessness by giving residents the chance to develop relevant skills.

As well as being Assistant Director of Care and Support here at Origin, I also sit on the Camden Safeguarding Children Board as the Housing representative. I’m pleased that the Board received an outstanding rating because I think it shows how well partners are linked in together to ensure the safety of children in Camden.   

We’re looking forward to continuing our partnership with the local authority to support the wellbeing of children and young people in the area.
