What to do if you suspect a gas leak

Our Customer Resolution Team have had some calls recently to report a gas leak to us, it is quicker and safer for you to phone Cadent (the new name for the National Gas Emergencies) on 0800 111 999. Only use a mobile phone from outside the property. The number is free and available 24 hours a day.

You’ll be asked the following information, so make a note of as much detail as possible:

• The address/location of the suspected gas escape or gas emergency
• How many people are at the property where the smell is most noticeable?
• How long the smell has been noticeable?
• Is the smell coming from the cellar/basement?
• Are any neighbours affected?
• Your name and phone number
• Any special circumstances or access information
