A new heritage trail is coming to Camden this September.
It’s the first new artwork for 100 years on Somers Town - look out for new artworks as part of the landscaping of Phoenix Road NW1.
‘Art in everyday life’ is a a contemporary reimagining of missing working class heritage in the public realm with 15 stops with AR elements and three new physical artworks.
It’s been co-designed in collaboration with up-and-coming all-female architects editcollective and artists Camilla Bliss, and RCA artist Melanie Jackson will produce a devil finial.
Fairy tales of St Pancras
In the 1930s the visionary St Pancras Housing association commissioned sculptor Gilbert Bayes, whose work can be seen on Selfridges of London, to create ceramic art for estates on drying posts where washing was hung.
‘Housing is not enough’ meant Fairy tale inspired birds, devils, ships ceramics were in daily life. for ‘why should ordinary people not have things of beauty?’ - Ian Hamilton Architect.
