| Description: | With 80% of tenants on low incomes and 15% in rent arrears our tenant base is at a high risk of developing poor credit histories and using expensive credit options supplied by doorstep lenders, loan sharks, and money shops etc, with extortionate interest rates such as 177% APR. Camden Plus Credit Union Ltd is a not-for-profit financial co-operative that provides affordable and responsibly lent loans as well as a range of other affordable services such as safe and convenient savings accounts and savings schemes. With Camden Plus as a partner, Origin Housing are improving the financial literacy of our tenants, opening access to affordable credit and ensuring the most vulnerable groups such as non-English speakers, those with hearing and vision impairments, and those with poor basic skills are able to access the information and support with ease and confidence. Project activity will feature the development and distribution of an accessible affordable credit advisory pack consisting of the following: - a professional short film on DVD, highlighting the issues surrounding obtaining credit, with key advice;
- for widest inclusion, the DVD will feature: Subtitles, sign-language;
- supporting literature, including credit union membership information, in different languages, including English.
