A man from Somers Town has won first place in the Origin Housing Photography Competition using only a mobile phone to capture images of his local community.
Julian Klinger, 42, from Eversholt Street was awarded first prize in the Origin Housing Photography competition last night, which ran for the first time this year.
TimeBank Co-ordinator Ben Frimston and a merry band of volunteers were responsible for organising the competition and transforming Hillwood House into a modern ‘arty’ space. All of this was funded through the John Toomey Heritage Fund and sponsored by Gilmartins.
When asked about the project Ben "Imagined that this would be quite a small project with only a few entries. But then very quickly I realised that a lot of people were interested in photography and their local area. We were thrilled to receive so many fantastic pictures which have wowed the judges and lead to an amazing exhibition. We really want to try and make the competition happen next year and will try to expand it so that more people can get involved. Also there were so many volunteers from the Time Bank who helped make this possible. I would like to say a big thank you to all of them."
The evening was a huge success and we hope to see the competition back bigger and better next year - watch out Tate Modern, Mr Frimston has big ambitions for Origin’s Time Bank.
