Spacesavers Scheme

Do you have a spare bedroom or bedrooms? Are you interested in our £1,000 reward for giving up a bedroom?

If you are an Origin tenant currently living in a two bedroom or larger property who wants to move to a smaller property, you can qualify for a £1,000 reward.

The benefits

  • We will give you high priority for a move
  • We will give you £1,000 compensation for the loss of one bedroom and £500 for every additional bedroom
  • We will give you two weeks free rent to give you time to move
  • We will arrange and pay for your removals

***PLEASE NOTE: this scheme only applies to Origin general needs housing tenants moving within Origin stock***

If you want to downsize from your family-sized property, please complete a Transfer Application Form and send it to the Lettings team.

Golden Goodbye reward scheme

We are offering you a maximum of £250 to say "thank you" for leaving your property in good decorative order when you move, if you are a General Needs or Retirement Housing tenant.

Community Lettings Scheme 

Origin Housing considers applications for rehousing from sons and daughters of existing tenants if your property is family-sized and overcrowded. To be eligible for this scheme you must be 18 years or over and living in the family home continuously since childhood. If you have children you will not be considered.

If you would like to apply for this scheme, please complete the Community Lettings Scheme Application form and call the Lettings team to book an appointment with an advisor. Please have your proof of address showing that you have been living in the property continuously since childhood and proof of your income.

Right to acquire or buy

If you rent a home through a Registered Social Landlord you may be eligible for the the Right to Acquire scheme. In order to qualify, your home must have been built or purchased by a Registered Social Landlord with a social housing grant on or after 1 April 1997.
