Developing with Origin

Origin’s reputation for imaginative development in challenging urban spaces began in the 1930s when it built the much-lauded “homes on stilts” at Kent House, Camden. We’ve kept the tradition alive, developing much-needed homes in medium and high-density areas in north London and Hertfordshire.

Our current work includes:

  • Working with architect Terry Farrell and developer British Land at Regents Place in central London;
  • Herts NHS and Watford FC partnership to ‘wrap’ over 160 homes around the south stand at Vicarage Rd stadium;
  • £12m refurbishment and modernisation of 84 Edwardian Holborn mansion blocks.

Developing in Herts and London

The property market has been affected by the economic downturn, but we’ve taken the opportunity to gain greater control of the design and build process in our target area. Overall we’ve kept our 400 homes a year objective.

Connected partnership
Origin Housing

Our alliance with Shepherd’s Bush Housing Group and Octavia Housing (the Connected partnership) exceeded its target to secure an extra £75m to deliver 800 new homes. Connected has also helped us make big efficiencies and improve best practices at lower costs.
