Residents' groups
If you’re thinking of bringing your neighbours together and forming a community or resident’s group, we’d love to help you out. We can help you form a group, get funding, and work out how you can achieve your aims.
If you choose to create a formal group with an elected committee and an agreed constitution, we can pay you £100 every year to cover your running costs.
Getting started
Most resident’s groups are formed with specific purposes in mind, for example fundraising for community activities or creating a network to share skills in the neighbourhood. As a first step, we’d suggest talking to your neighbours and finding out if there’s appetite for whatever you have in mind. If lots of people are interested, then you can start recruiting people to help you start the group and take on a role.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll find all you need to formalise your resident group in the resources list at the bottom of the page. Finally, get in touch with your Neighbourhood or Scheme Manager to let them know about your plans.
It might be that you don’t need to do anything very formal, you could test out your idea first without getting lots of people involved or you’re welcome to just get going without us. For example, a tool and garden equipment sharing network can be easily set up using a WhatsApp group or email list.
